Some creations take time. Others take millions of years.

Today I'm proud to share the next chapter of a piece unlike anything else we make: the L'Artisan Jurassic, a watch built around a genuine dinosaur bone dial. And for the first time, I can tell you exactly whose bone it is. Triceratops.

This is not a metaphor. The dial you see was once part of a living Triceratops, one of the last dinosaurs to walk the Earth, around 66 million years ago, in the final chapter of the age of dinosaurs. Over time the organic material fossilised into stone, creating a rich, textured surface with deep, natural patterns that can never be replicated. Each dial is entirely unique, shaped by nature, preserved through time, and now given a new life on the wrist.

The material is sourced from the Hell Creek Formation of Montana, USA, one of the most famous dinosaur regions in the world and the very ground where Triceratops once lived. Bringing it to life in a watch has been both a technical and a creative challenge, and something that, to this day, remains exclusive to L'Artisan.

A New Expression of a Rare Material

For this latest evolution, I wanted to elevate the dial even further.

The watch now features applied Breguet numerals, adding depth and classical elegance, paired with a finely executed applied minute track that frames the fossil surface with precision. The contrast between ancient material and refined watchmaking details creates something that feels both raw and sophisticated at the same time.

It is, in many ways, a dialogue between past and present.

Limited Drops

This piece will not follow a traditional release.

Instead of pre-orders, we release small, limited drops, each one produced in very small quantities. Once a drop is sold out, it will not return in the same form. And in this drop, for the first time, we can name the dinosaur behind the dial.

Each watch remains individually unique due to the nature of the material.
